Darrin Alfonzo Tate of Powder Springs was arrested Aug. 27 on charges of manufacture, distribution and possession of marijuana within 1,000 feet of Powder Springs Elementary School, a felony, and obstruction of an officer, a misdemeanor. He remains in the Cobb County jail pending a bond hearing.

According to the warrant, Tate fled on foot from approaching officers and attempted to dispose of two items suspected to contain marijuana. One of the items was found and reportedly had a green leafy substance inside, likely marijuana.

Tate was chased by officers and apprehended soon thereafter.
