Our killing civilians won’t help Syrians

DEAR EDITOR:

President Obama is making a grave mistake in proposing to attack Syria in response to Mr. Assad’s alleged use of chemical weapons on his own people. Obama has announced that any raids on Syria will have no military objective, but are meant simply to “punish” Assad for his actions. We are going to punish Assad by killing hundreds of his soldiers and airmen! Even if our cruise missile strikes are exactly on target, many unavoidable civilian casualties will likely occur. Is this how we help the people of Syria?

With or without the approval of Congress, the president should not attack Syria. To do so will not help anyone and will just get us deeply involved in the Syrian civil war.

Change your decision, Mr. President, and do the right thing for your country.

Robert K.,

I completely agree!

Nothing to gain, a lot to lose.
