Our pseudo president continues to make a fool of himself and, consequently, our country. Having over the years successfully employed bluster, B.S. and braggadocio to attain his highly-questionable goals, he has now had his bluff called by Syrian President Haffez al-Assad and has reacted in a manner best described as “tucking his tail between his legs” and slinking away while making what he hopes will pass as “threatening growls.”
He has twice averred that the use of chemical weapons by Assad would constitute “crossing a red line” which would, presumably, trigger a harsh and appropriate response by the U.S.
The first time Assad brazenly crossed that line, Obama’s limp-wristed response was that we weren’t absolutely, positively certain such a breach had occurred. Now that it’s happened again, Obama’s excuse is that the U.S. can’t simply take action without the assent, concurrence and authorization of the U.N. Security Council.
Does the man not realize how puny, insignificant and inconsequential his empty threats make our nation appear?
I suspect that as long as he can continue to use Air Force 1 as his own private kiddie-car, take multiple taxpayer-funded vacations (from what?), bask in the adulation of the drug-besotted Hollywood “glitterati” and get in several rounds of golf per week, matters of national and international consequence can continue to be regarded as mere annoyances, bothersome intrusions into the luxurious lifestyle of this erstwhile community organizer. Cinderfella, anyone?
This pompous, preening paragon of puffery has so weakened and embarrassed our nation that it will take years and years of REAL leadership to restore it. All this because a gullible electorate has allowed itself not once — but twice! — to be lulled into complacency by a glib, fast-talking snake-oil salesman whose eloquence far outdistances his competence — and his integrity!
Rational minds have already begun to rue the day when this pestilential Pinocchio was foisted upon us.
Shame on us!
