Prep Roundup: Walton sweeps best-of-five match

Walton beat visiting North Cobb 25-13, 25-20, 25-10 to pick up a non-area win Thursday.

It was a rematch of last season’s Class AAAAAA semifinal, which Walton won on its way to the state championship.

Savanna Gonzales paced the Lady Warriors (5-3) with nine kills, while Abby Miller had seven kills. Tate Pember chipped in with 20 digs and Christina Matacotta totaled 14. Taylor Parrish added 17 assists.

North Cobb will host its annual play date Saturday against North Gwinnett, Sandy Creek, Starr’s Mill and Norcross.

Lassiter rallies for two: The Lady Trojans rallied for home wins against Norcross (20-25, 25-20, 25-20) and Lambert (20-25, 25-17, 25-8).

Becca Ledford paced Lassiter (6-1) with 24 kills and seven digs. Sam Link had 53 assists and 10 digs, while Libby Bochniak had 13 kills, 11 digs and five aces. Annie Chandler added 15 digs.

Lassiter will be at Northview’s play date Saturday against the host Lady Titans, St. Pius X, Mount Paran Christian, Peachtree Ridge and Parkview.

Walker cruises to wins: The Lady Wolverines took down Galloway (25-5, 25-15) and King’s Ridge Christian (25-8, 25-12) at home for their fourth consecutive win.

Anna Chocallo totaled 22 digs for Walker (4-4). Brooke Warner had 15 kills, two blocks and 12 digs, while Sash Fazylov added 15 kills and 10 digs. Holland Martin contributed seven aces and 18 assists, and Jordan Tasman had seven kills.

Walker will travel to King’s Ridge on Tuesday for a tri-match with Pinecrest Academy.

McEachern 2, Marietta 1: Gigi Perryman had eight kills and five aces to help lead the Lady Indians in a non-area match.

McEachern won the match in three sets — 25-18, 16-25, 25-18.

Kiara Finley finished with six kills and four aces for the Lady Indians (3-3), who will travel to Mount Paran Christian on Tuesday.

SOFTBALL

Allatoona 7, North Paulding 2:
The Lady Buccaneers scored five runs in the third and two more in the fourth and cruised to the Region 5AAAAA home victory.

Dani Lewis batted 2-for-4 with a home run in the fourth inning to pace Allatoona (4-1, 1-0). She also scored two runs.

Casey Lewis was 3-for-4 with a RBI, Rachel Legere went 2-for-3 with a RBI and Madisyn Escue had two RBIs. Brittany Ingenito had a hit and an RBI.

Makenzie Colwart (3-0) allowed two unearned runs and struck out five for the complete-game victory.

Allatoona will host Woodland-Henry and Grayson today as part of the Buccaneer Bash.

Lassiter 8, Wheeler 0 (5 inn.): Piper Wagner gave up one hit and struck out five to lead the Lady Trojans to the Region 5AAAAAA victory.

Sally Swan batted 1-for-3 with two RBIs for Lassiter, which scored three runs in the first inning, two in the second and two more in the fifth. Emily Syvarth was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI, while Maggie Aarons had a hit and an RBI. Kelly Sinclair had two hits.

Lassiter will host Heritage-Catoosa and Fanning County today as part of the Buccaneer Bash.
