A student was struck by a vehicle Monday morning in Kennesaw while trying to board a school bus near Baker Road and Stonegate Drive, said Kennesaw police Officer Scott Luther.

The bus traveling southbound had just started to activate its stop signs when a car driving northbound rolled toward the bus preparing to stop.

Luther said the student, attending Awtrey Middle School, stepped off the curb toward the bus, apparently believing the car would stop when he was hit.

The student received minor injuries and was transported to a hospital as a precaution, though Luther could not say which hospital.
