Geraldine “Gerry” Labeur Simmons, 96, of Clemmons, N.C. passed away peacefully Aug. 17, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 7, 1917 in Puerto Rico. She is preceded in death by her husband Judson Simmons; sisters, Nellie Schafsma and Annie Taylor; and brothers, Cornelius and David Labeur. Surviving are her children, Scott (Pat) Chadwick of Marietta, Ga., Betsy (Mike) Boggs of Tobaccoville, N.C., Ginger (Gary) Lee of Clemmons, N.C., and David (Bea) Chadwick of Murrieta, Calif; and numerous grand, great and great-great grandchildren. In addition to raising her four children, she fulfilled a lifelong ambition with the support of her husband and earned an LPN degree and began a long and rewarding career at North Carolina Baptist Hospital until her retirement. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Aug. 20, 2013 at Ardmore Baptist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church lobby.
