The Cobb Police Department is investigating what it believes to be the homicide of a 48-year-old Austell man who was found dead in his mobile home Thursday.

Police received a 911 call Thursday complaining about an odor. When they arrived at the Six Flags Road Mobile Home Park on Fox Road, they found the body of Joseph Walker Jones.

“His body was in a state of decay, and it’s going to be up to the Cobb County Medical Examiner’s office to determine not only the manner and cause of death, but the approximate date they believe his death may have occurred,” Cobb Police Sgt. Dana Pierce said.

Anyone with information which may assist detectives in this case is asked to call (770) 499-3945.
