South Cobb (5-1) scored in every inning of the shortened game, capping it off with five runs in the fourth.
Emily Cargle led the offense, going 3-for-3 with two doubles and four RBIs, while Dezirae Rhodes was also 3-for-3. Mariah Byk was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI, and Kierrah Dozier had two RBIs.
Brittany Rhodes earned her fifth win in five decisions, scattering two hits and a walk.
Marietta 6, Campbell 5: Sinclaire Scott’s two-out, two-run single scored Liv Osburn and Lacey Mount with the go-ahead runs in the fifth, and the Lady Blue Devils rallied from a 5-3 third-inning deficit to take the Marietta Invitational victory.
Taylor Hartenbach (1-1) gave up two hits, walked three and struck out seven in 4 2/3 innings of relief.
Osburn was 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Mount had two RBIs.
Sierra Logan was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Campbell (0-2), which scored twice in the first inning and three times in the second. Emma Thomas batted 3-for-4 with three RBIs, while Katie Osbourne was 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Marietta will host East Paulding today, while Campbell will take on Chattahoochee.
North Cobb 3, Cass 2: After losing their season opener, the Lady Warriors bounced back with a narrow win at home.
After taking a 3-1 lead into the seventh, North Cobb (1-1) had to withstand Cass’ rally attempt before the bid ultimately fell short.
Ericka Clifford had three of the Lady Warriors’ six hits, also contributing a double and an RBI. Iman Muhummed added a solo homer, while Casey Page also drove in a run.
Katlyn Tinsley (1-0) struck out one, walked four and allowed six hits in a complete game for North Cobb, which will host Allatoona on Monday.
Kennesaw Mountain 3, South Paulding 0: Two sixth-inning runs gave the Lady Mustangs some breathing room in the non-region home game.
Malea Bell was the spark for Kennesaw Mountain (3-0), going 2-for-3 with a triple, home run and two RBIs. Lilly Wright had the Lady Mustangs’ only other hit, also contributing an RBI.
Kathryn Woody (3-0) struck out nine, walked none and allowed just three hits for Kennesaw Mountain, which will host Bremen and Houston County on Saturday.
Sprayberry 11, Roswell 0: Kierston Moore batted 3-for-3 with a double, two home runs, two walks and six RBIs to lift the Lady Yellow Jackets to the road victory.
Sprayberry (3-3) collected 13 hits and sent 11 batters to the plate in its eight-run seventh inning. Moore led off the frame with a double and later blasted a two-out, three-run homer. Moore, who has four home runs this season, also had a three-run shot in the first inning.
Kayleigh Breh was 4-for-5 with an RBI and scored twice. Julia Abney batted 2-for-4.
Charlie Smith (2-2) gave up two hits and struck out four in a complete game for Sprayberry, which will be at Woodland-Bartow on Wednesday.
Wheeler 14, Walker 3 (5 inn.): The Lady Wildcats improved to 3-3 following the road victory.
Anna Awald (3-3) logged the win for Wheeler, which will play its first home game Tuesday on alumni night.
North Cobb sweeps tri-match: The Lady Warriors didn’t drop a set in beating Riverwood (25-23, 25-8) and Southeast Whitfield (25-14, 25-20).
Abby Miller led North Cobb (3-0) with 13 kills on the night, with Savanna Gonzalez adding 10, Kaitlyn Woodruff eight and Lizzie Daniel seven. Taylor Parrish helped spark the offense with 42 assists.
Christina Matacotta had eight aces, while Tate Pember added seven aces and 17 digs.
North Cobb will travel to Wesleyan on Saturday for a play date involving last year’s state quarterfinalists, drawing Blessed Trinity, Woodward Academy, Johns Creek and Wesleyan.
Whitefield splits to begin season: The Lady Wolfpack beat Mount Vernon Presbyterian (26-24, 26-28, 28-26), but lost to tri-match host King’s Ridge Christian (25-15, 25-13).
Kate MacPhail added 19 assists and four digs for Whitefield (1-1). Olivia Nicholas had nine kills and seven aces.
Whitefield will be at Our Lady of Mercy on Tuesday with Mount Paran.
Allatoona 3, Campbell 0: The Lady Buccaneers won the season opener for both teams, prevailing 25-19, 25-13, 25-14.
Allatoona will be in a tri-match Thursday at Hillgrove.
North Cobb Christian swept: The Lady Eagles couldn’t find answers for two Class AAAAAA opponents, losing to Wheeler (25-16, 25-11) and McEachern (27-25, 25-19).
North Cobb Christian (0-5) will travel to Marietta on Tuesday for a tri-match that also includes Woodland-Bartow.
