Kalejaiye was shopping for a wig that evening when she was told by the employee, Eun Kyung Yi, that there was a 99 cent charge for a wig cap the store requires customers to wear.
Kalejaiye said she only wanted to pay for the merchandise she selected and not the extra item.
After paying the full amount, including the 99 cent charge, Kalejaiye left the store, leaving the wig cap behind, according to the warrant.
Kalejaiye went to her car, but returned to the Pro Beauty Mart to retrieve the wig cap, which Yi had since thrown in the trash.
Kalejaiye refused the used cap and said she wanted a new one. She then grabbed a different cosmetic item that had the same 99 cent price and left the store.
Yi followed Kalejaiye to her vehicle to take her photograph with her cellphone.
Kalejaiye pushed Yi to the ground. Yi hit her head on the pavement and was knocked unconscious, according the warrant
Yi was revived by fire department personnel and taken to the hospital by a co-worker.
“The victim had an abrasion to her right elbow, a knot on the back of her head, and was complaining of chest pain,” the warrant stated.
Kalejaiye was charged with a misdemeanor count of battery, given a $1,000 bond and released Tuesday afternoon.
