DEAR EDITOR:

Re: Ron Sifen guest column, “BRT Bucks could be better spent fixing Cobb transit needs,” Sunday’s MDJ

This is a terrific column, representing many interests and points of view, and I hope it reaches the eyes of those who plan and control the destiny of our county. That includes Chairman Tim Lee and our Board of Commissioners; our Director of Community Development, Rob Hosack; our Director of Transportation, Faye DiMassimo; our Chamber of Commerce and CID leaders; and, importantly, the folks sitting on the committee charged with competent development of the Cobb Strategic Plan.

Without boring you with details, Mr. Sifen seems to be saying Cobb should spend its transportation dollars with fiscal forethought; with the entire community’s future needs in mind and with the consent of an informed majority of Cobb’s citizens.

It is so easy to act under daily pressures and lose sight of these very important fundamentals. I sincerely hope all those I listed above will reread Ron’s piece with this in mind. And, if you need help interpreting his words, I’m certain he will welcome an opportunity to meet and talk about it.

Again, Cobb should spend its transportation dollars with fiscal forethought; with the entire community’s future needs in mind and with the consent of an informed majority of Cobb’s citizens.
