The indictment alleges Jennifer Karen Cook, 23, of Chamblee was driving on South Cobb Drive on May 8, 2012, when she made a left turn into the path of Cpl. Eugene Crawford, who was on his motorcycle. Crawford, now 54, is a 30-year veteran of the Smyrna Police Department.
The crash occurred near Ridge Road.
Cook is charged with causing serious injury by vehicle and hit and run, both felonies, and reckless driving, a misdemeanor. If convicted on all charges, she could be sentenced to up to 21 years in prison and fined $1,000.
Assistant District Attorney Ann Harris is prosecuting the case for Cobb District Attorney Vic Reynolds’ office. The case is assigned to Cobb Superior Court Judge Robert Flournoy III.
No arraignment date has been set. Cook remains free on a $25,000 bond. Court records do not list an attorney for her at this time.
