On Saturday, go to Movies By Moonlight at Taylor-Brawner Park in Smyrna, where a family friendly movie is playedBring your blanket and picnic and enjoy the Saturday feature, “Escape From Planet Earth,” a computer-animated film released this year by Rainmaker Entertainment.

The story takes place on planet Baab where admired astronaut Scorch Supernova (Brendan Fraser) is a national hero to the blue alien population. Scorch finds himself caught in a trap when he responds to an SOS from a notoriously dangerous alien planet.

Jessica Myers, Smyrna Parks and Recreation administrative assistant said, “The movies are typically arranged so that young kids can enjoy them because they’re clean. There’s no nastiness in the movies.”

“This is a Chastain-style event,” said Myers, who regularly attends the movies with her 11-year-old daughter.

The Chastain-style event, where people bring their picnic suppers to enjoy, is entertaining for adults as well. “Parents and other folks like to come out because the atmosphere is good. The location is one of the favorites here in Smyrna,” she said.

“Everybody just likes to come out and have a good time together. It’s all geared toward family time,” Myers said.

The event is free and the film starts at dark.

Taylor-Brawner Park is at 3180 Atlanta Road, Smyrna.
