A Cobb County jury Thursday convicted a Marietta man of aggravated child molestation against a teenage girl.

Adriel Noel Mann, 34, was found guilty of one count of aggravated child molestation for forcing the girl into a sexual act in November 2011. The victim is related to Mann’s then-girlfriend, and the incident was immediately reported to police.

Mann was acquitted of another count of aggravated child molestation involving the same victim.

The state’s case included allegations of aggravated child molestation on two occasions spanning approximately 11 months, said Assistant District Attorney Susan Treadaway, who prosecuted the case.

“The teen’s account of how and when the molestation occurred was corroborated by others living in the household, as well as a family member of the victim who was visiting the home at the time,” Treadaway said. “The victim, now 16, gave emotional testimony concerning the defendant’s perpetration of this heinous act.”

At sentencing, the state will present evidence of the defendant’s five prior felony convictions in Virginia, and based upon those convictions, Georgia law requires the court to impose a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole, Treadaway said.

Cobb Superior Court Judge James Bodiford set sentencing for 10:30 a.m. Aug. 22.

The trial began Monday with jury selection.

Mann is represented by Atlanta attorney James Gibert.

I know him. He has 6 kids and a beautiful wife. The same girl being referred to as his then girlfriend. She married him after she found out her sister was lying. He is the most hard working brother I know. I am not gonna believe this garbage.

I know this family and it's sad because that man did not do this crime. While child molestation is a huge issue it is also an issue when you convict people without evidence. The teen girl in this case (Christyn Dagbovi) did not live with her sister. She was upset that her sister moved out of the home and continually begged her sister to come over. She claimed that her sister's fiancé texted her on numerous occasions but she never showed the messages and the prosecution team was not able to find the messages when her cellphone records were subpoena'd. They did not share this information with the jury. It was also stated that on the night before the incident Christyn Dagbovi asked her sister if their brother who was spending the night could go back home so she could relax. This young girl sought to destroy her sister's family. It was also said by several witnesses that Adriel and his fiancé and now wife Anisha had gotten into several fights about people coming over to the house. Adriel Mann asked his wife to not have Christyn there because she was disrespectful. Anisha continued to invite her over because she needed help with the children. The mother Selena Dagbovi also knew of the circumstances but did not share this information with the detectives.

Yeah why does it say he forced her into sex? The charges were based off of the girl claiming he walked by on his way to work and put his penis on her forehead. SMH. The brother was in the same room and didn't see anything. Sounds like a brat getting away with perjury. This story is misleading. I hope he gets another trial. Cobb county is full of it.
Terrible SMH

Does anyone know what happened to his kids from his previous marriage? I honestly don't believe he would ever do this! If his wife knew he didn't do it though did she speak on his behalf in court? She should have been his star witness to help with her sister's claims. This is so unfortunate he is such a good man and prior to getting married was raising his three children on his own. I just pray that his little ones are doing okay!

Why is it that we are constantly bombarded by stories of "mom's boyfriend" hurting the children, yet no one is marching, writing to the editor, demanding better parental oversight? It is absolutely insane that so many young people are hurt in their own homes.
