Mary Kate Thomason Fulton, age 89, of Mableton, passed away on July 7, 2013. A graduate of West Fulton High School in 1941 and member of Leland United Methodist Church, her love of books and reading were reflected in her eighteen years of work with the Cobb County Library System. A member of the volunteer group that created the South Cobb branch, she served as head librarian when the first building opened on Gordon Road until retiring in 1979. Preceded in death by husband, Jack Fulton and sister, Virginia Fowler, survivors include children, Pat (Pete) Southerland of Gulf Breeze, FL and Steve (Laurie) Fulton of Douglasville, GA; grandchildren, Cindy (John) Webb of Statesville, NC, Scott (Stephanie) Southerland of San Diego, CA, Andrew (Kayla) Fulton of Villa Rica, GA, Captain Zachary (Katie) Fulton of Abilene, TX; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Charlie, Emma, Kristen, Branden, and Jaxon; sister, Katherine (Virgil) Bartlett; and brother, Walter (Dot) Thomason. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time at 3:00 PM Sunday, July 14, 2013 at White Columns Chapel in Mableton. With Rev. Millie Kim officiating, burial will follow at Mozley Memorial Gardens in Lithia Springs. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Emerald Coast Hospice, 1555 N. Palafox St., Pensacola, FL 32501.
