From staff reports

A Marietta man faces charges after police say he stole a bag of potato chips and over-the-counter medication from a Publix supermarket on South Cobb Drive in Smyrna.

Syd Serna reportedly stole one bag of chips and one box of Coricidin, a cough and cold medication. When police arrived at the scene, they recognized Serna as a member of a street gang, the Crips, according to the arrest warrant.

Serna was arrested by the Smyrna Police Department on June 28 and jailed on a $15,000 bond. He was charged with theft by shoplifting, a misdemeanor, street gang terrorism and criminal gang activity, a felony.
