ATLANTA — U.S. Attorney’s officials say a 60-year-old metro Atlanta man has been sentenced to more than 17 years in prison on child porn charges.

Officials say Starke Allen Hawkins of Austell owned a computer and electronic storage device that contained more than 600 photos and videos of children engaged in sex acts.

Authorities say the storage device also held records of online chats between Hawkins and a minor that were highly sexual in nature.

Officials say at a sentencing hearing, Hawkins admitted he has a problem and hopes to get help for it while he’s in prison.

Hawkins is ordered to serve 17½ years in prison, serve 20 years of supervised release and register as a sex offender.
