From staff reports

The Cobb County Animal Control Shelter will have its second annual Art, Barks, and Purrs event this Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the shelter, 1060 Al Bishop Drive in Marietta.

The event will feature more than 35 arts and crafts vendors and several food vedors as well as a raffle.

Admission to the event is free, but attendees will have an option to donate money to PAWSitive Supporters, a local nonprofit organization that supports homeless and sheltered animals in Cobb County.

“What makes this event unique, I think, is we solicit vendors from metro Atlanta and they have to have animals included in their artwork,” said Fran Jackson, a shelter volunteer and the shelter’s event coordinator. “They are all local vendors who want to help the homeless and abandoned animals at Cobb.”

Jackson said she expects an increase in attendance for the event this year and hopes the event’s vendors will attract a large crowd.

“We hope that each year, we will continue to have more vendors and more people,” Jackson said.

The shelter asks attendees to donate unopened and unexpired dog or cat foods at the event. More information about the shelter and the event can be found at cobbanimalcontrol.org.
