Richard Joseph Brennan, 83, of Acworth, died Wednesday, June 12 after a short and courageous battle with Leukemia surrounded by family in the warmth and comfort of his home. He was born on October 12, 1929 in Dublin, Ireland to Catherine and Michael Brennan. Richard was the fourth youngest of nine children. Richard is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Maire Brennan; his sons Bernard, Richard and Eamonn; his beautiful daughters Yvonne, Paula, Catherine and Sinead and their respective spouses; his twenty grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Richard will be remembered for his love of family above all; his volunteer work in Ireland and with St. Catherine’s Chapter of St. Vincent dePaul Society over many years. He was a man with a deep and abiding faith in God, country and his fellow man and woman. Family will receive friends on Sunday, June 16, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a rosary held at 6:30 p.m. at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw. A funeral mass will be held 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Catherine’s of Siena Roman Catholic Church. Fr. Jose Kochuparampil officiating. Interment at Pine Ridge Memorial Park. As expressions of sympathy, donations to “Heritage Hospice of Marietta, GA” or to the “American Cancer Society” can be made in lieu of flowers.
