Anthony Valvo of Durham, N.C., was arrested June 7 after reportedly hitting his 77-year-old father, who has dementia.

Valvo walked into the Emeritus at Spring Mountain assisted living community in Marietta near Powder Springs Road, where his elderly father lives, and demanded to speak with his father, according to the arrest warrant. Valvo then slapped his father’s face and handed him a rifle, stating “This is for you,” before leaving the facility, the warrant stated.

Valvo was arrested by Cobb County Police and jailed on a $10,000 bond. He faces charges of terroristic threats and battery.
