Sandra Bishop Holton, 69, of Marietta, died Thursday, June 6, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Saturday morning in the Mount Paren North Church of God with Dr. Mark Walker and Pastor Robert Plowman officiating. Burial services will be held at 2:00 CDT at the Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper, TN. A native of South Pittsburg, TN, Mrs. Holton had lived in Marietta for 46 years. She Held a Masters Degree in education from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and a Masters Degree in education from Georgia State University. She was retired from the Cobb County Board of Education, having taught at Blackwell , Powers Ferry, and Big Shanty Elementary Schools. She was a member of the Professional Association of Georgia Educators, the Retired Educators Association, and Mount Paren North Church of God. Mrs. Holton is survived by her husband, Melvin Clark Holton of Marietta; son and daughter in law, Donald Eugene and Sharon Lynn Holton of Alpharetta; brother and sister in law, George Blaine and Sally Bishop of Knoxville, TN; sister, Carole Bishop McNabb of Kimbal, TN; several nieces and nephews. Flowers are being accepted or in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Marietta Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
