Mr. Richard Howard, age 80, of Acworth, died Tuesday, June 4, 2013. The funeral service will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, June 8th in the Chapel of Carmichael Funeral Home in Marietta with Rev. Rusty Womack officiating. Interment will be at Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery with Masonic Graveside Rites. Mr. Howard was a Cobb County, GA native. He was the City Supervisor for the City of Kennesaw for 30 years before retiring. He also served on the Cobb EMC Board for 15 years and served in the National Guard for 15 years. Mr. Howard was a member of Lost Mountain Baptist Church and was also a member of Masonic Lodge #314 Meyerhardt Lodge and Eastern Star #414. The family would like to thank Evercare, Regency Health and Kadan Healthcare for the care that was given to Mr. Howard. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ernest Howard and by his sister, Lois Whitcher. Survivors include his wife, Thelma Howard of Acworth, GA; daughters, Janice Howard of Acworth, Helen (Mark) Prater of Palmetto, GA, Carolyn Allen of Nashville, GA; brothers, James Howard of Baltimore, MD, David Howard of Dallas, GA; sisters, Louise Coward of Dallas, GA, Loraine Little of Acworth, GA, Tiny (Charles) Adams of Acworth, GA and his Aunt Lillie Hitt of Woodstock, GA; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Friday, June 7th from 4-8 P.M. at Carmichael Funeral Home in Marietta (770) 424-4924.
