Marietta attorney Ronnie Knighton was totally surprised by a party given for him recently by his wife, Nita, at the Marietta Elks Lodge. Guests celebrated the fact that Ronnie survived a serious heart attack last year. Family from Alaska and Illinois flew home for the special occasion. Local friends included Jack Chastain, Joyce and Melvin Denard, Ray Denard, Rita Haynes, Michele and Erik Kurth, Jim Maher, Julia and Ed Mote, Janet and Pat McPherson, and too many others to name.
The OLLI Scholar Computer Certificate Course at KSU’s College of Continuing and Professional Education has helped nearly 90 people get computer savvy.
So far 84 people have successfully completed the program that introduces several foundation courses within the year such as “Introduction to PCs,” “Internet and Email Savvy,” Windows 7 – Level 1,” “Microsoft Word” and “Easy Steps to Safeguard Your Computer.” For those new to computers it is recommended that they take the “Let’s Begin with Computers” course first.
Longtime OLLI instructor Lynne Mock, an engineer who also operates a consulting firm, teaches the course. She brings more than 30 years of teaching experience to the classroom.
