Good news for conservatives! Marco Rubio’s “I wanna be president” poll numbers are taking a decided dip. That happy fact is starting to make this writer think there may be hope for a dash of sanity in immigration policy this year. Maybe even hope for the Republican Party. Possibly even for conservatives too!

It seems that despite the all-out efforts of the big-money, legalization-again machine and the liberal media (apologies for the repetition), many real conservatives recognize the stench of betrayal radiating from Golden Boy Rubio and his “It’s not amnesty” scam.

As noted by the Federation for American Immigration Reform, Rubio’s approval rating among self-described conservatives has dropped since the Schumer/Rubio Gang of Eight Amnesty bill was unveiled.

A Public Policy Poll released last week shows that, when asked for their preference on a GOP candidate for the 2016 presidential race, only 17 percent of “very conservative” respondents indicated support for Rubio. That’s down nine points from March. Only 18 percent of “somewhat conservative” respondents supported him — a four point decline from before the amnesty bill introduction.

Rubio’s approval numbers went down about five points with Latinos in the same polling since introducing his amnesty bill.

This is the exact opposite effect the Republican establishment has been peddling. Apparently, many Latinos didn’t get the memo from John McCain and “GOP Central” that they were supposed to be all-in on amnesty, expanding legal immigration and adding 33 million more job-seekers to the American labor market in the next decade while trashing American immigration laws.

Voters who still depend on the liberal mainstream media for their “news” may need a little background on Rubio and his campaign promises before he was elected to the U.S. Senate as a (I love this) “Tea Party Darling.”

So let’s outline some campaign promises and position statements from Rubio on legalization for millions of undocumented Democrats. Here is one courtesy of PowerLine blog. Rubio, as of 2009: “If you go to people and say: ‘Look, well you’ve been here for so long that even though you broke the law we’re going to let you stay.’ … It demoralizes the people that are going through the legal process. It’s a very clear signal that ‘Why go through the legal process if you can accomplish the same thing through the illegal process?’”

Rubio then said, “I never have and never will support any effort to grant blanket legalization amnesty to folks that have stayed in this country illegally.” This was well before he went to the U.S. Senate and fell in with the John McCain/Lindsey Graham anti-enforcement crowd. It was also before he began tirelessly hauling water for Democrat Chuck Schumer.

(Note: Schumer was shilling in the U.S. House for the 1986 version of “It’s not amnesty.” On my MDJ blog, readers can see actual archived video of him and others parroting the exact same fairy tales being used as arguments for the 2013 legalization).

Heads up, for those who may have missed it: The “reform” bill Rubio is now hawking for big business removes the illegal status from the millions of illegal aliens within months of the left-handed signature of Barack Obama, were it to become law. They become legal residents and eligible for state and local benefits on the spot. The promise, even less than in 1986, is that there will be a “plan” devised to secure the border after “It’s not amnesty.”

In a 2010 Fox News campaign debate against Florida’s Charlie Crist, Rubio also declared: “As far as amnesty, that’s where the governor (Crist) and I disagree. He would have voted for the (2007) McCain plan. I think that plan is wrong, and the reason why I think it’s wrong is that if you grant amnesty, as the governor proposes that we do, in any form, whether it’s back of the line or so forth, you will destroy any chance we will ever have of having a legal immigration system that works here in America.”

Marco Rubio is often described as “fresh face” in GOP politics. We surmise that fully depends on which of his faces are in question. Here’s hoping for the expanded recognition of the arrogance and contempt he clearly holds for the intelligence and memory of pro-enforcement Americans.

Despite Rubio’s ridiculous radio and TV ad campaign, a Rasmussen poll last week shows only 30 percent think the government is likely to actually secure the border if the Gang of Eight legalization scam passes.

Apparently, the other 70 percent remember 1986.

Here’s hoping they always remember the many faces of Marco Rubio, too.

I learned thsi on DA's website

S.744 does not secure the border or strengthen national security. Instead, the bill rewards law-breaking and encourages more illegal immigration:

1. S.744 allows DHS to grant legal status (registered provision immigrant, or RPI status) in 6 months, before any measure to secure the border has been taken. (Sec. 3, p. 10; Sec. 5, p. 24)

2. S.744 includes the DREAM Act, which puts illegal aliens who entered the U.S. before 16 on a 5-year path to citizenship. However, unlike previous versions of the bill, there is no age limit and DHS may waive the work/study requirement. (Sec. 2103, p. 112)

3. S.744 grants amnesty to illegal farm workers and gives them green cards in five years. (Sec. 2211, p. 155; Sec. 2212, p. 177)

4. S.744 does not require a biometric exit system at all land, air and sea ports of entry to track aliens who enter and leave the U.S., per current law. Instead, Section 3303 requires only a biographic exit system only at air and sea ports that merely collects information on a form or scans your identification document. (Sec. 3303, p. 556)

5. S.744 does not require any additional border fencing or completion of current border fence requirements. Instead, it requires DHS to submit to Congress a fencing “strategy,” in which DHS recommends what additional fencing is needed along the U.S.-Mexico border, if any. (Sec. 5, p. 24)

Call it intuition if you will, I was never taken in by Marco Rubio and spotted a McCain in the making from the time he was elected.

Not only is he duplicitous he is also stupid. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and big business lobbyists own him and convinced him those of us with an IQ higher than our shoe size would not remember his past anti-amnesty positions. We did and do.

What was a big disappointment was Paul Ryan. He has crossed over from being a public servant to blossoming in to a full blown career politician willing to sell out our country, culture, and sovereignty in return for a political office.

Poor old DA King. Once again tilting at windmills and spittin in the wind when it comes to immigration reform. It is already moving forward with all due speed in the Senate with CONSERVATIVE Republican support, not to mention prominent pundits like Grover Norquist, Michael Medved, Larry Kudlow, Rand Paul, et al. Its time the Kings of the world realize that the current repressive immigration policy is not only inhumane and economically counter-productive, but will be the death knell of the GOP. Thank God for Senator Rubio standing up to these reactionaries. Viva Rubio!

There is a theory that the reason Rubio is selling out the conservatives is to position himself as a DEMOCRAT once amnesty passes. Rubio's dream is to become the Lincoln of his day for the Latinos, and he will not need Blacks or Whites to succeed politically.

I’m tired of hearing about the need for “Comprehensive Immigration Reform”. That term means that a lot of bad policies will be mixed with a precious few good ones, and it leads to legalization of people who broke into our country’s “house” illegally. What we need is “SIMPLE Immigration Reform”. Here is what I mean by that:

S ecure the border

I llegal Employers punished

M igration by Family Chain ended

P lace of Birth Citizenship ended

L aws enforced

E ntry/Exit system implemented

Amnesty Bill has $150 Million for La Raza, Other open borders groups - this bill is bad news for African-Americans! Protect our jobs!

Oh, and sorry air traffic controllers, firefighters and other human props for the sequester, there are more important places to spend that money. Like giving it to the open borders Obama leftists. Rubio is trying to become president of a nation that will not exist if this legislation passes. IT WILL NOT SECURE THE BORDER! REMEMBER 1986!

Looking at YOU Johnny Isakson!

Sen Isakson. I see that you are doing the same tricks as 2007. This billcannot be saved. Join us. Or lose us.

JERRY GONZALEZ WOULD GET TAX DOLLARS TO MARCH AGAINST ENFORCEMENT! Section 2106 of the Schumer-Rubio bill creates the “Grant Program to Assist Eligible Applicants” and the funds also go to public and private non-profit organizations (p. 131). The grants are to be used for promoting the amnesty through public information campaigns and helping illegal immigrants with the application process. Similar to the section above, the funds can be used for providing “any other assistance” that the grantee “consider[s] useful” in helping illegal immigrants apply for legal status.

I have lost faith in Isakson .

Since I cannot be sure of what he stands for, I will not vote for him again.

I am an American who stands for Americans and their jobs and security.

Isakson stands with farmers for illegal help and employers for increasing H1B visas. At he same time, for example, the number of IT openings was smaller that the number of IT graduates. What kind of American does that??

Give me a person like Senator Sessions.

Here is a promise to Isakson the moderate: Your $15 million campaign war chest for re-election would not save you if you vote for this amnesty bill.

The Heritage Foundation has said it will cost the American Taxpayer 6.3 trillion in addiional debt if Obama/Rubio's Amnesty Bill was implemented. That is based on 11 million criminals being in OUR Country. The REAL Number is 33 to 40 Million. That increases the debt to 18.9 trillion as a Conservative estimate; Should our kids and grandkids be sattled with such enormous DEBT? I think NOT, Secure our Borders Janet, and for once, ENFORCE OUR LAWS!!!!

Great stuff, DA; thanks! The People actually got involved in '07 and defeated that amnesty. Will they do so this time? Any pol who votes for this present amnesty is a traitor, imho. It simply will be the end of America if it passes, without doubt.

This is a travesty. The amnesty bill was passed out of a Dem Senate committee yesterday with the Republicans voting with the liberals. As a member of the 70%, I DO remember 1986 and wil try to help stop this sell-out.

Best way to describe Marco Rubio? He is a "$chumer Republican." I hope DA does a column with all of the faults of the sham bill Rubio is selling. But the paper should give him a lot of room. This thing stinks. GREAT WORK DA!

IT'S AMNESTY! We know what King meant - 70 % of the people can't be fooled and remember 1986! Great column. MARCO Rubio deserves to be exposed!

Thank you, Mr. King, According to the Budget Committee, these new green card holders will be

"eligible for Medicaid, TANF, Supplemental Security Income, child care assistance, food stamps, and a variety of other welfare benefits and public aid programs. The Budget Committee Republican staff estimates that costs could be upwards of $40 billion in 2022 alone, just for Medicaid and Obamacare." There is nothing in the Gang of 8 plan to ensure enforcement first. Contrary to what the pro-amnesty side touts, there IS work that unemployed Americans and legal immigrants WILL DO (just not at slave labor wages supplemented by taxpayers.) Let's learn from the 1986 amnesty. We know that the plan from the Gang of 8 will encourage more lawbreaking in the future. Senator Isakson, why have we not heard you demand enforcement first? We are worried about your silence.
