KENNESAW — Pollo Tropical, a Caribbean-style restaurant chain, will celebrate the opening of its newest location today in Kennesaw with a 12-hour “beach party” featuring music and virtual surfing. It hopes to raise $1,000 for a local charity.

The new Pollo Tropical is at 840 Barrett Parkway in the Cobb Place Shopping Plaza.

Grand Opening Beach Party festivities begin at 9 a.m. and run through 9 p.m. As part of its grand opening festivities, Pollo Tropical will bring surfing and a virtual beach to Kennesaw, said in a news release Thursday. The surfing takes place on two surfing simulators that ride atop a wide, cushiony virtual wave.

There will also be a “Free Chicken for a Year” giveaway, according to the release. As part of the festivities, the first 100 guests in line for the restaurant to open at 10:30 a.m. will have a chance to win the giveaway.

Pollo Tropical will feature its famous Grilled Chicken, Create Your Own TropiChop® Bowls, savory Mojo Roast Pork, and Guava BBQ Riblets. In addition, guests can enjoy Caribbean Fajitas, Create Your Own Family Meals, Kids’ Meals and side dishes like Caribbean Corn Souffle, Macaroni & Cheese and more.

The restaurant is known for having a complimentary Pollo Tropical Salsa Bar stocked with a variety of specialty sauces including the new Spicy Poyo Poyo Sauce, Cilantro Garlic, Fresh Salsa, Salsa Fuego, Curry Mustard, and Guava BBQ. The new Pollo Tropical also features an elevated drive-thru. Pollo Tropical in Kennesaw will open daily at 10:30 a.m., seven days a week.

This will be Pollo Tropical’s third Atlanta-area location “with many more to come,” said Chief Operating Officer Danny Meisenheimer, in the news release.

Other Atlanta Pollo Tropical locations are in Cumberland and in Lawrenceville.
