SEALE, Ala. (AP) — The wife of a Fort Benning soldier whose body was found in a ditch has been arrested in the man's death.

Russell County Sheriff Heath Taylor Tuesday said 34-year-old Gloria Wilson was being held in the Russell County Jail in connection with the death of 34-year-old Donald LaShon Wilson. Sheriff's officials say she's being held without bond for murder.

Authorities say 34-year-old Wilson was found with multiple gunshot wounds early Monday morning. Police in Phenix City found the man's car on fire in a parking lot and the man's body was found in a ditch in Seale — about 20 miles west of Fort Benning.

Officials have told investigators that Wilson was slated to be promoted to sergeant first class.

It was unclear Tuesday if the woman had an attorney.

When a murder is committed a charge of 1st degree murder can be charged if the murder was committed under certain circumstances. I think that a charge of 1st degree should apply anytime when a person is actively serving their country during a declared war and is murdered by another person on "friendly" soil, no matter what the relationship be between the psrties.
