Arletta Fields Martin died peacefully at home on Thursday April 25, 2013 surrounded by family and loved ones. Visitation will be held at Carmichael funeral home on 2950 King St, Smyrna, GA. on Friday, April 26, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorial services will also be held at Carmichael funeral home chapel on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 1:00 PM with Chaplain Bill Allen officiating and eulogies by Buddy Darden and Tom Charron. Arletta was born in Odum, GA on March 23, 1934. She graduated from Jesup High School. She then graduated from Lee University in 1955. She was employed in the Cobb County District Attorney’s office for 27 years as the child support coordinator and receiver and was later promoted to office administrator, a position she held for the last 22 years of her career. She loved her work and she loved all those she worked with and for. She was of the Church of God faith and attended Mt. Paran Church of God for more than 40 years. Her faith in God never wavered and she possessed a desire to always lead others to Christ. Arletta loved and was dedicated to her faith in God, her family and all those around her. Arletta will always be remembered by her family as a strong Christian, wonderful wife, loving mother and grandmother and perfect homemaker. She is survived by husband of 57 years Lynn Martin, daughter Tana Greer and her husband Steve of Canton, son Brent Martin and his wife Carmelita of Savannah, granddaughter Cason Parks (attending GA Southern university), sister Lyndal Bolton and her husband Billy of Stockbridge, brother Edmond Fields and his wife Laverne of Waynesville, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws Rex and Charlene Martin, Billy and Brenda Martin, and special niece and nephew Anne and Harold Rowe. Arletta is survived by many other nieces and nephews that she loved. Special thanks to Rex, Charlene, Billy and Brenda Martin, Anne and Harold Rowe and Jack and Sandy Hurt for the many, many complete dinners they brought with love during Arletta’s long illness. Special thanks also go to Lisa Martin, her full-time care giver, her evening care giver, Teresa Teal and volunteer, Laura Autry. Thanks for the loving medical care Arletta received from Hospice (special thanks to Kim Wood and Tracy Morris).
