Elizabeth Suellen Bishop (Susie), 61, of Marietta, Ga., became one of God’s Angels on Monday, April 15, 2013, while vacationing with her family in Miramar Beach, Fla. She lost her battle with melanoma. Susie was born in Atlanta, raised in Mountain Park, and lived in Marietta with husband, Lanier A. Bishop Jr. (Larry) and their much-loved canines, mixed breed, Denali and Cocker Spaniel, Bella. If you ever met Susie, you had at least one friend; she never met anyone she did not like or did not remember. Her telephone has 590 contacts and she knew them all. A member of East Cobb United Methodist Church where she had been a choir member Agape class member, co-ed softball organizer, and senior citizen’s dinner leader. Also a lover of music and a member of the Coal Guild of Atlanta performing as far away as Sydney, Australia. Sue was an Assistant Vice President at Lockheed Georgia Employees Federal Credit Union in charge of the call center. She had a lifelong career in banking and financial data processing. In 43 years she had worked at First Georgia Bank, First Financial Management Corp, FITCH Systems, Open Solutions, and the Lockheed Georgia Employees Federal Credit Union. Graduating from Roswell High School in 1970 and while living in Mountain Park where she was a lifelong member of Mountain Park’s Sunday school. At Roswell High she was a member of the band and a majorette. She was a very active mother to her two and other’s children. At Druid Hills UMC she was the children’s choir director and the church’s daycare school liaison. She coached and managed softball teams at Sandy Plans Softball Association and was a coach and official with East Side Youth Track Club for several years. Also, as a band parent at Walton High School, she chaperoned the band on a trip to NYC to participate in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Always involved, she also chaperoned the band’s trips to LaGrange College for camp. Susie is survived by her loving husband and children, Rachel Bishop Modugno and her husband, Matthew Modugno; and grandson, Wesley Lanier Modugno of Powder Springs; Capt. Lanier Bishop III (Tripp), USMC serving at the Marine Air Station in Beaufort SC.; as well as two living siblings, brother, Ted Hall of Atlanta and sister, Dolores Hall of Dawsonville; mother-in-law, Vivian Spinks Bishop; and brother-in-law, Jeffery Spinks Bishop living in Marietta. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary at East Cobb United Methodist Church, 2325 Roswell Road, Marietta, at 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013. A celebration of her life will follow at 2 p.m. There will not be a burial as Susie wished to be cremated.
