Margaret Standard Ovbey, Beloved wife, mother, aunt, sister, friend, and teacher passed away Thursday, April 18th at the age of 72. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 4:00 PM in the chapel of Marietta Funeral Home, 915 Piedmont Road, Marietta, GA 30066 with Rev. Tommy Sunderland officiating. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Jim, and her two sons Tim and Joe, brother Bill Standard, sisters Eleanor Lieberman and Emily Killingsworth, and multiple nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother Alice Standard and brother Jim Standard. Margaret will be most remembered for her immense kindness, generosity, quick wit, and the admirable ability to always find the good in others. Margaret never met a stranger and never forgot a name. Anyone who met her walked away feeling as though they had a new friend for life. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, crossword puzzles, being a grammarian, and delighted in a good game of Chicken Foot or Chuzzle. Her family realized that as a life-long educator she touched the lives of up to 8,000 children most of whom would certainly call her “their favorite”. She will be missed but with the understanding that she is in a better place and is most certainly watching over all of us. In lieu of flowers the family asks that online contributions be made to ALS MDA: http://www.neurology.emory.edu/ALS/, Guardian Angel Hospice: http://guardianangelhospice.com/donations.html, or to the Foundation at Roswell North Elementary: http://rnefoundation.com/ or at 770-552-6320. The family will receive friends Saturday from 3:00 until 4:00 PM at the funeral home prior to the service. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mariettafuneralhome.org.
