NEWNAN, Ga. (AP) — Newnan police are looking for a thief who threw away most of the money he stole.

Dr. Artie Ricaud told WXIA-TV that he was leaving his dental practice when he realized he had left his sunglasses inside. He left his personal bag and wallet in his truck while he returned to the office. The bag contained cash he had withdrawn from the bank to buy a car. A man walked up to the truck and took the bag and wallet.

Police used surveillance video from the dentist's office to determine the suspect's direction. Sgt. Chad Wood searched trash cans and found the wallet and bag in a container near the county library. Police said the wallet was empty, but the cash was still in the bag's side pocket.
