Prep Roundup: Whitefield walks its way past Walker

Whitefield Academy took advantage of 12 walks and beat Walker 6-4 on Friday in a Region 6A contest.

Everett Joiner pitched a complete game and struck out four for the Wolfpack.

Nile Ball was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Mitchell Golden went 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Zach Eikost, Kevin Bray and Alex Watkins each added a hit and an RBI for Walker.

Whitefield Academy (6-12, 2-6) will host Fellowship Christian on Monday. Walker Wolverines (5-14, 5-9) will host St. Francis.

McEachern 7, Marist 2: Brent Alford went 2-for 3 with a home run and drove in three to lead the Indians to a non-region victory.

McEachern built its lead with a pair of three run innings. Trey Harris had the big hit — an RBI double — in the first, and then Alford keyed the three-run fourth with a two-run single.

T.J. Clark had an RBI double and Sam Stephens added a hit and an RBI.

McEachern (17-4) will host Dalton today.

Mount Paran Christian 14, Fellowship Christian 0: Matt McKenzie hit two home runs, and four pitchers combined on a no-hitter as the Eagles rolled to an easy Region 6A win.

McKenzie finished the game 2-for-3 and drove in four. Isaac Phillips was 2-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs, Jake Palomaki had a hit and drove in two and Taylor Trammel added a double.

Jordan VerSteeg, Colton Cannon, Robert Wilson, Keith Johnson combined on the no-hitter.

Mount Paran Christian (18-2, 14-2) will travel to King’s Ridge Christian on Monday.

North Cobb 9, Pace Academy 5: A six-run second inning gave the Warriors their biggest boost in the non-region home game.

Luis Barros and Patrick Smith each had two RBIs for North Cobb (11-8), while Trevor Devine and Chandler Seivers doubled.

Joe Braun (2-2), the first of four pitchers who relieved Devine, the starter, pitched a scoreless second inning to get the win. Devine only pitched the one inning to allow the Warriors to use as many pitchers as possible.

The final reliever, Daulton Hill, struck out five over three innings.

North Cobb will host Hillgrove on Monday to resume Region 4AAAAAA play.

South Cobb 13, Creekside 0 (5 inn.): Freshmen Devin Lucas and Thomas Leffew combined on a two-hitter, and the Eagles totaled 13 hits of their own in the non-region win at home.

Lucas (1-0) gave up one hit and struck out two in three innings, while Leffew allowed the other hit over the final two frames.

South Cobb (9-12), which sent 20 batters to the plate in the first and second innings, scored four in the first and six in the second.

Avery Williams batted 3-for-4 with four RBIs. He also had a double and scored twice.

Leffew was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, while Marion Hines hit 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and a run scored. Marlon Law hit a solo home run in the fifth and Jose Bustamonte also had a RBI and scored a run.

South Cobb will host Campbell on Monday in a Region 4AAAAAA game.

King’s Ridge Christian 11, North Cobb Christian 7: The Tigers took advantage of four unearned runs to win the Region 6A contest.

Canon Robinson led the Eagles, going 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs, and Rabon Martin added two hits.

North Cobb Christian (6-11, 2-11) will travel to St. Francis today.
