I would like to thank Jon Gillooly for the recent articles concerning The Atlanta Lyric Theatre and for covering my concern about the city failing to realize that other arts organizations are a part of Marietta Square.
My purpose in writing Mayor Tumlin was not to ask for any sort of monetary contribution from the city, but to simply call attention to our existence and to impart our importance to the rich and diverse environment that makes the historic Marietta Square the unique and vibrant destination that it is. We are very honored to have the privilege to be a part of such a location.
Next Stage Theatre Co., and its resident theatre company, Out of Box Theatre, are currently for-profit companies, relying completely on ticket sales to remain open. For-profit status does not mean a large bottom line. Next Stage Theatre budgets and plans meticulously to utilize our funds appropriately to best provide quality programming. We reinvest any profit back into the company.
I would invite Mayor Tumlin, Tom Browning and anyone with the City of Marietta to see a production at Next Stage Theatre Company. We are at the Alley Stage just around the corner from the Marietta Wine Market. Our next production is “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” which runs April 5th-21.
