More than 700,000 residents are proud to call Cobb County home. You can chalk much of that up to our good public schools, low taxes, proximity to Atlanta and business-friendly local climate.

Our county’s economy is anchored on a strong base that continues to expand and diversify.

And that’s where we come in. There has long been a demand in this marketplace for a publication that exclusively covers Cobb business and business people. The mission of the Cobb Business Journal is to meet that demand by being a lively, informative and trusted resource that promotes Cobb as a place to work, live and do business.

With that said, welcome to our premiere issue.

The time has never been better to place a closer eye on Cobb’s business community.

While our county was certainly not immune from the effects of “The Great Recession,” its diverse mix of small and medium-sized businesses, Fortune 500 companies, 10 fully engaged business associations, two of the state’s most successful Community Improvement Districts and an active Chamber of Commerce have helped our community weather the storm and position itself for an even brighter future.

We’re pleased to be part of that future.

The growth and success of today’s Cobb is a direct result of visionary leadership from those who came before us. The current and future generations face new challenges that exist with any developed and mature county. However, Cobb has all the ingredients — a strong business community, some of the best schools in the state, efficient and business-friendly local governments and an educated workforce — to tackle these challenges and prosper.

So what can you look for from us each month?

Our stable of writers will exclusively focus on the companies, individuals and initiatives that drive Cobb forward.

Our pages will be filled with Cobb-specific news, features, photos and people.

And we want your input. Got a ribbon cutting, new product, promotion or new hire?

Just let us know at news@cobbbusiness journal.com.

In addition to our business news articles, we will offer opinions and insights from respected local leaders that impact you and your community.

Finally, on the lighter side, the CBJ will explore trends in technology, the newest gadgets, wines that will impress a client, business etiquette tips you should know and much more.

Lastly, we ask that you take note of our local advertisers throughout these pages who help make the CBJ possible. Support these local businesses that help make our community special. We hope you enjoy the first issue of the CBJ and welcome your feedback. Look for the next issue at the beginning of each month.

We are proud to call Cobb County home and look forward to bringing you the best business news Cobb has to offer with each and every issue.
