A week after hiring former Landmark Christian School head coach Kenny Dallas to lead the North Cobb Christian football program, the Eagles find themselves in need of a coach again.

Monday, North Cobb Christian athletic director Keith Bollinger said Dallas changed his mind and will remain in Franklin Tenn., as the director of spiritual life and athletic director of Grace Christian Academy.

Bollinger said Dallas told him it would not be fair to uproot his wife and children for a second time in just over a year.

Dallas was to take over for Harry Miles, who left the school to go into private business back in his hometown of Savannah.

Bollinger said the school gave Dallas two weeks from the time the job was offered until he accepted the position.

“I just wish he would have told us earlier,” Bollinger said. “Unfortunately I just sent a thanks-but-no-thanks letter to all the other candidates.”

Messages left for Dallas were not immediately returned.

More than 80 coaches submitted applications for the position and Bollinger said he will revisit his short list of candidates to see if any of them are still interested in the job.

“I would like to find someone with experience,” he said. “And I would like to find someone with private Christian school experience. That’s why we were so happy with (Dallas).

Whoever is the next head coach will be trying to build on a foundation Miles began to construct.

The Eagles set a record for wins in a single season last year with three, including one via forfeit. In five years of varsity play, North Cobb Christian has a record of 6-40. All those wins came under Miles, who was 6-33 at the helm.
