Mrs. Dorothy Peppers Thatro, age 88, of Marietta, “graduated” Saturday, March 23. A funeral service will be held 10:30 am Tuesday, March 26 in the chapel of Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna. A private family interment will follow the service. A native of Winder, Mrs. Thatro had been a longtime resident of Cobb County. She was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church in Smyrna, and had been a missionary in Haiti, and later served as a missionary to Haitians in Brooklyn, NY. She was active in her church with bible schools, church camps and Sunday school classes. Dorothy was a lady whose life was devoted to serving her Lord and savior. Surviving are daughters, Dianne (Richard) Hadaway of Kennesaw, Sally (Henry) Reavis of San Antonio, TX, Emily (Tim) Gladden of Acworth, Mary Shetrone of Smyrna, honorary daughter Elaine Sparks Greenberg of Marietta, sisters and brother Hazel Lipham of Buford, Martha Yarbrough of Snellville, James Wilkins of Monroe, Mary Ann Sumers of Cumming, 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm Monday, March 25 at the funeral home.
