It is disgusting and very manipulative that the Boards of the Cobb and Marietta schools have the right to set special elections so that the general electorate will not “turn out for the vote.” There were 23,248 in favor (3.42 percent). Out of a total population of 700,000 we have a total “turn-in” the vote, and that is exactly what the school boards predicted. The ability to choose the playing field definitely gives the advantage to those who favor the special elections.
Don’t we, The Electorate, just love being manipulated? And the sad part is it will happen again until the law prevents voter manipulation. Vote for legislators who will pass a law requiring SPLOST votes at general elections.
