Hit-and-run driver collides with Marietta police car

The Marietta Police Department is asking for the public's help to locate a driver involved in a hit and run with a Marietta Police car early Friday morning.

A Marietta Police officer was on routine patrol at 4 a.m. Friday on North Marietta Parkway at Church Street when a car ran a red light and was hit by the officer’s patrol car.

The patrol car was extensively damaged, but the officer was not injured.

The suspect was driving a silver Jeep Cherokee or Grand Cherokee with tinted windows. The car was last seen headed northbound on Kennesaw Avenue with damage to its right rear area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Hit and Run investigators with the Cobb County Police Department at (770) 499-3987.
