Dancers 8 to 10 years old will be scattered among the crowd, each wearing something green, about 2 p.m. at Atkins Park Tavern.
One will begin dancing in part of the crowd and others will follow one by one, said dance teacher Mary McGehee. The group of about 12 kids will form a flash mob, she said.
“These are talented dancers who may have a future with dance,” McGehee said.
Students are mostly local, she said, but some come from other areas in the northwest part of the state.
Today’s flash mob will be a rehearsal for a recital at the Smyrna Community Center in May when young dancers will combine hip-hop and ballet.
The event also will include musical performances and games for all ages.
On Saturday, Ron Hamdallah, a blues artist, performs at 3 p.m. Southern rock band Chris Stalcup and the Grange goes on stage at 5:30 followed by Southern rock band Radio Lucent at 8 p.m.
Mayor Max Bacon will dye the water in the Market Village fountain green at 5 p.m. Saturday, and games continue throughout the day.
For children, there will be a 65-foot inflatable obstacle course and games. Adults can play games, too, and join beer pong or corn hole tournaments all weekend.
Games and music continue outside until 10:30 p.m. Saturday and then more bands and a DJ continue the celebration indoors at the tavern, and then Sunday until 10 p.m.
Sunday bands include The Armory at 3 p.m. and Reynolds and Williams at 6:30 p.m.
“Atkins Park has always been known for good music,” said Bettie Cagle with the Atkins Park Tavern. “We are just continuing with that trend.”
The events will take place throughout the Village Green area between Atlanta Street and city hall.

I didn't appreciate being falsely accused of drinking when I was wrongly arrested, so I apologize for making a childish statement.
As a note, the one person screaming about this has made numerous false statements about me on several websites.
I have every right to demand answers from my government.
I have concerns that the mayor attends Smyrna events & parties, no problem, but won't address the real issues in Smyrna, like a good mayor should.
Where is the 20 million on Concord Road?
Why has South Cobb & Windy Hill Road been completely ignored, since he has been mayor?
Why does the mayor seem comfortable w/ keeping Smyrna poor?
Maybe a more accurate statement would have been,.. he's drunk w/ POWER!!
And you my stalker, are just plain childish.
Well, whether the mayor was drunk, drinking or abstaining, was not the point. I do not have that info, so no, I wouldn't know. I do know that the reason for the event is green beer, so I will guess many folk were indulging. I do not think it is illegal, is it?
It certainly seems to me that the mayor has no problem attending parties/events at every turn, but lacks a desire to handle actual business of this city.
If he did , Smyrna Heights, Concord Rd., South Cobb Drive, Davenport, 5 Points, Windy Hill, Jonquil, Belmont, etc., etc., would not be in the poor shape it is in.
I understand you have an obsessive need to stalk me on these websites. I do not feel safe w/ your stalking of me. You will not decide for me when or where I move, but thanks for your concern. You really need to attend to your personal issues.
Maybe he should be running the business of this city, instead of getting drunk at the only bar in town w/ a bunch of college kids.
Homeowners & taxpayers in Smyrna deserve so much better than what we have!
