John Stanley Rakestraw, 58, of Acworth, died Thursday, February 28, 2013. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at St. Jude’s Episcopal Church in Marietta with Rev. Charles B. Fulton officiating. Survivors include one biological son, John Davidson Rakestraw of Waleska, GA; three sisters, Donna Hosack of Marietta, Carolyn Fulton and husband, Charles B. of Marietta, Wynette Phillips and her husband, Tony of Powder Springs; one brother, Don Rakestraw and his wife, Cecilia of Waleska, Ga; nieces and nephews. Contributions may be made to American Cancer Society-Cobb County Unit, 1825 Barrett Lakes Blvd. #280, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Family will receive friends at the church prior to the service. Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home and Crematory Macland Chapel in Powder Springs will be handling the arrangements. 770-943-1511.
