Matthew Thomas DuVall, age 40, of Marietta, GA passed away on Friday, February 22, 2013. Memorial Services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at West Ridge Church in Dallas, GA with Rev. Terry Nelson officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Afterwards, the family will host a reception at the clubhouse in the Essex Park subdivision. A native of Virginia, Mat moved to Cobb County in 2008. He is a professional body builder and had won the Mr. America competition in 2003.For the last 2 years; he owned and operated American Body Works (Require Fitness). Mat was also a member of Keystone Church, and loved speaking at Fellowship of Christian Athletes and working with God’s Warriors. He enjoyed gun collecting, and was considered “Our Hero” by his wife and family. Survivors include: Wife: Denise DuVall, Mother: Charlotte Anne Bridges DuVall, Haymarket, VA, Father: Barry R. DuVall, Sr., Manassas, VA, Brother: Rich (Rosemary) DuVall, Jacksonville, FL, Sister: Joy Michelle (Patrick) Kenne, London, England, Nephews: Jasper Kenne and Brody DuVall, and “Little Kenne” on the way. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, GA is in charge of arrangements. Online guestbook @

Matt was truly a man among men.A solid guy that you felt lucky to be called his friend.A good hearted guy that was a man of his word and sought to make the world a better place.And did.The world will be a poorer place without him in it.

I did not personally know Matt but, I know he was an inspiration to a whole lot of people and to one family friends of mine in particular. I also was informed of his faith in God and how he lived and showed it through his action and his works. I wanted to let his family and friends know that my prayers are lifted up for them. God Bless.
