ATLANTA — An Atlanta man considered armed and dangerous is wanted by the FBI for a series of armed robberies, including two in Cobb.

Michael Jerome Winfield, 46, is accused of multiple armed robberies at metro Atlanta locations and most recently a bank robbery at a Wells Fargo in Tucker on Tuesday.

Special Agent Stephen Emmett with the Atlanta FBI office said Wednesday that he wasn’t able to comment on details of the case, but detectives believe Winfield may still be in the area since he robbed a bank just two days ago.

In Cobb, Winfield is accused of robbing two gas stations at gunpoint.

He reportedly stole several cartons of cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of cash in an armed robbery at the Walgreen’s off South Marietta Parkway around 12:30 a.m. on Feb. 8.

Shortly after the incident, Officer Dave Baldwin said Winfield was considered armed and dangerous and urged residents who know his whereabouts not to approach him. They should contact police immediately.

Smyrna is charging Winfield in connection with a Feb. 9 armed robbery at a BP gas station off Cobb Parkway.

Officer Michael Smith with Smyrna Police said they were unable to release any additional information about that incident at this time.

Winfield is also wanted by the Alpharetta Police Department for a Feb. 11 armed bank robbery at a BB&T. The Sandy Springs Police Department considers him a suspect in two gas station robberies, and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office wants him for a Feb. 17 robbery at a Walgreen’s in Lithia Springs.
