Wheeler opens season with victory

Wheeler opened the season with a 10-3 win over Whitefield Academy.

The Wildcats used a three-run third and a four-run fifth to break the game open.

Alan Peters went 2-for-4 with a two-run double and drove in three, Kyle Allen was 2-for-4 with an RBI triple and drove in three and Garrett Dukes was 2-for-4 with a two-run double.

Taylor Buice pitched 3 1/3 innings, allowed five hits and struck out five for the win.

Wheeler (1-0) will travel to Kell today.

North Cobb Christian 11, Pace Academy 5: Canon Robinson went 2-for-2 with a double and a home run to lead the Eagles to a season-opening win.

Patrick Martin had an RBI single and Dylan Crumley singled and drove in two.

Rabon Matrin pitched four innings allowing two hits and struck out eight to earn the win.

North Cobb Christian (1-0) will host Galloway on Wednesday.


Walton 10, Mill Creek 7: Ryan Jones scored six goals with an assist as the Raiders won their season opener.

Michael Gernatt had three goals and Jack Whittacker added one.

Walton (1-0) will travel to Johns Creek on Saturday.
