Anne Willingham Stribling died Sunday, February 17, 2013. She was born March 22, 1929, the daughter of Robert Tilton and Anne Bolling Claiborne Willingham. Anne grew up in Marietta and after two years at St. Marys College, she graduated from The University of Georgia where she was a cheerleader and member of Chi Omega Sorority. It was there that she met her future husband, William L. (Tee) Stribling III. Their four children were born in Marietta. They later moved to Atlanta and then Tampa, Fla. after Tee sold the Georgia Marble Company to the Jim Walter Corporation. Anne moved back to Marietta when Tee was forced to retire because of illness prior to his death in 1977. Also preceded in death by her daughter Susan Gaines Howkins, her brother, Dr. Robert T. Willingham, Jr. Anne is survived by her children, William L. (Strib) and Sharon Stribling IV, Robert W. and Pam Stribling, Randolph Claiborne Stribling, and a brother Randolph C. Willingham,Sr. Also, ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Anne was a true southern lady who loved family, friends, her pets and the Georgia Bulldogs. She was an avid golfer and won the Cherokee Town & CC ladies golf club championship. Anne always had beautiful gardens and took pride in tending the gardens at the Juliet Gordon Low House in Savannah where she lived for three years. She was a life long member of St. James Episcopal Church and a devoted member of the Colonial Dames where she served as state historian for several years. A Memorial Service will be held at St James Episcopal Church, 161 Church St., Marietta, Ga. 30060 on Wednesday February 20, 2013 at 10 am. The family will receive friends in the parish hall after the service. Contributions may be made to St. James Episcopal Church in Marietta. Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta will be handling the arrangements.
