In a news release, Marietta Police Officer Michael Gardner said a woman, whom he didn't identify citing family notification, was struck by a truck at 6:53 p.m. Saturday on North Marietta Parkway near Allgood Road. The driver of the truck stayed at the scene, but Gardner said the woman was then “possibly” struck by two or three more vehicles that left the scene.
The woman was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where Gardner said she was in critical condition. Repeated attempts to reach police officials were unsuccessful Sunday.
Anyone with information on the accident is asked to call (770) 794-5357.
There are no crosswalks at the North Marietta Parkway intersection with Allgood Road. The intersection with Allgood Road is located about a quarter mile from the nearest pedestrian crossings on North Marietta Parkway, which are at Fairground Street to the east and Cole Street to the west.
Marietta City Councilman Anthony Coleman, who represents the area, located close to Turner Chapel AME Church, said crossing there can be dangerous.
“Traffic moves pretty rapidly on the North Loop,” he said. “I wouldn't want to risk my life crossing there.”

Sorry for the error, and the corrections have been made.
Once at the crosswalk, you cross while the light is RED. Therefore, the cars on Marietta Parkway are STOPPED. That is the difference.
Apparently there needs to be education in that area about what a crosswalk is and how to use it.
Is that too far to walk for a safe crossing? That walk would take a little over three minutes.
Whatever was on the other side of the road was not worth dying for.
Where were all these blubbery West Cobb and Pauldingers driving themselves to and from on a Saturday evening?
The lady who was killed WALKING somewhere was the non-lazy one.
