Louise James Hawkins, 98, formerly of Kennesaw, Georgia, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2013. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 2pm in the chapel of Marietta Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Knofsinger and Rev. Charles Pearce officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery. Mrs. Hawkins was a lifelong resident of Cobb County. She was a machine operator for McLaurens and retired in 1979 after over thirty years of service. She was also a School Crossing Guard at Bells Ferry Elementary School. Mrs. Hawkins was a member of First Baptist Church Kennesaw. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Kennesaw Chapter #414. Mrs. Hawkins was preceded in death by her husband, William Virgil Hawkins and her son, James Robert Hawkins. She is survived by son, Sammy J. Hawkins of Jasper; son, Johnny M. Hawkins and his wife, Brenda, of Kennesaw; son, William L. Hawkins and his wife, Gloria, of Jasper; step-daughter, Bobbie Lou Hawkins of Jasper; brother, Ellis Ray James and his wife, Edith, of Wayne, Michigan; ten grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; along with dozens of in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5-9 pm at Marietta Funeral Home, 915 Piedmont Road, Marietta, GA 30066.
