The Marietta Police Department Detective Division is asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who went into the Walgreens off South Marietta Parkway around 12:30 a.m. Friday and robbed the store at gunpoint.

According to a release from Marietta Police, an unknown, light-skinned, black man, went into the store, pulled out a handgun in front of the store clerk and took “several” cartons of cigarettes and an “undisclosed” amount of money before leaving the store on foot and walking southbound toward South Marietta Parkway.

“The suspect is to be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached,” the release states.

Anyone with information regarding the case or identify and/or whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call Det. Mike Freer at (770) 794-5477, the Anonymous Tip Line at (770) 794-6990 or 911.

Marietta has become a cesspool. This happens every day. Why should the Square be excluded from the rampant crime that is all over the rest of Marietta?

They need to do something about that area. Go in there all the time and there's always shady looking people hanging out all over the parking lot. So close to the square and all of cobb county and marietta government buildings and such a bad area.
