Bettye Stewart Evans, 81, resident of Marietta for 60 years, lost her eight years long battle with cancer on January 18, 2013. She was born in Trion, Georgia on March 19, 1931. She was married to her high school sweetheart, George Evans in 1949 and moved to Marietta, Georgia in 1953. She was employed by Lockheed Aircraft for 9 years. In 1964 she opened a chain of ladies clothing stores, Bette’s Fashions which she sold in 1978. In 1982 she founded Around the World Travel, from which she retired in 2004. She was a faithful Christian and member of the East Cobb Church of Christ. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, George E. Evans; son Steve/ Cheryl Evans; daughter Jenny/ Bodie Walker; and daughter Fran/ Bill Woodruff. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, four sisters, one brother and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held at the East Cobb Church of Christ 4:00 p.m. Saturday, January 26th with reception following in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to ‘City of Angels’ orphanage and mailed to the church at 5240 Roswell Rd. Marietta, GA 30062.
