The West Side Drama Club presents “Beauty and the Beast” at the Earl Smith Strand Theatre, 117 North Park Square in Marietta. Shows are Tuesday, Feb. 5 and Thursday, Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. Two different casts perform each night. This is Westside’s fourth year performing at the Strand.

It is no secret that Cobb County strongly supports the arts and arts education.
On Jan. 25-27, the Earl Smith Strand Theatre on the Marietta Square will present Kids On Broadway. This 80-minute musical revue features 27 young performers from the fifth- through 10th grade performing over 25 popular Broadway songs from 20 well-known musicals.
The goal at the Strand is to expose young people to the arts and help them develop an appreciation for music and dance. Choreographed by Sterling McClary and Paige McCormick, Pebblebrook graduates who currently attend Point Park in Pittsburgh, Kids On Broadway will include musical numbers from “Footloose,” “Hairspray,” “Annie Get Your Gun,” “The Lion King,” “The Wizard of Oz,” “Annie,” “Mary Poppins” and many more.

The Cobb Library Foundation’s “Booked for Lunch” 2013 Series begins with Pamela Bauer Mueller on Wednesday at Marietta Country Club, 1400 Marietta Country Club Drive in Kennesaw from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets are $30 and include lunch.
Mueller, an award-winning author of books for children and adults who lives on Jekyll Island on the Georgia coast, has written and published eight books of fiction and won three Georgia Author of the Year Awards.
Her first three published books, the “Kiska Trilogy,” focused on a wonderful cat named Kiska whose journey paralleled that of its author, from Mexico to San Diego to Canada to the southeastern United States. That trilogy for young readers includes “The Bumpedy Road” (1999), “Rain City Cats” (2000) and “Eight Paws to Georgia.”
Mueller won Georgia Author of the Year Awards in 2006, 2008 and 2009. She also is the recipient of three “Mom’s Choice Awards” and is a silver medal winner of the Independent Publisher Book Awards.
