‘Trains, Trains, Trains’ event scheduled for Saturday
On Saturday, the Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History will present its annual “Trains, Trains, Trains” event from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. The event features crafts, tips and techniques for building a home layout, and a variety of operating model train layouts. The museum is also building a new model train layout that will be unveiled during the event. The museum is located at 29 Cherokee St. in Kennesaw.
Kennesaw author will sign book copies Saturday
Kennesaw author Martha Jane Orlando will sign her new novel, “A Trip, a Tryst, and a Terror,” at Wellspring Treasures on Saturday from 12 to 4 p.m. This event is part of Wellspring’s anniversary celebration, and a portion of the proceeds from the book sales will be donated to Wellspring’s mission: To rescue, restore, and renew victims of childhood sexual abuse and exploitation.
Wellspring Treasures is located in the Towne Center Plaza on Barrett Parkway in Kennesaw.
Georgia Poetry Society meeting is saturday at KSU
Three Georgia poets will headline the winter season of the Georgia Poetry Society, which meets Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Room A of the Students Center at Kennesaw State University.
Each poet will read from his or her published collections of poetry. There is also an open mic segment of the meeting.
All meetings of the Georgia Poetry Society are open to the public and free of charge. If you would like to join the Society for lunch, reservations are required. Christian school grad will perform at inauguration
Brianna Westland, of Acworth, will perform at the 57th Presidential Inauguration on Monday in Washington D.C. with the Lee University Festival Choir.
Westland, a graduate of North Cobb Christian School and a former student of choir instructor Amy Wallace, is studying vocal music at Lee.
On behalf of the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, Sen. Lamar Alexander invited the choral group in November to sing at the swearing- in ceremonies that will take place mid-day on the upper west terrace of the United States Capitol.

Booked for Lunch set for Wednesday
The Cobb Library Foundation presents Booked for Lunch with author Pamela Bauer Mueller on Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Marietta Country Club. Mueller is an award-winning author of books for children and adults who lives on Jekyll Island. Over the last decade, she has written and published eight books of fiction and won three Georgia Author of the Year Awards.
Tickets are $30 and include lunch. The Marietta Country Club is located at 1400 Marietta Country Club Drive in Kennesaw.
