ATLANTA (AP) — Much of north Georgia was under a flood watch as forecasters warned of the potential for freezing rain and some snow later in the week.
The National Weather Service in Peachtree City said rain is expected to mix with and change over to snow or a snow/sleet mix across parts of metro Atlanta Thursday afternoon and evening. Forecasters said there was the potential for light snow accumulations on Thursday across parts of the metro area with greater accumulations for the north Georgia mountains.
The flood watch, in effect through Thursday night, covered more than a dozen counties and included Atlanta, Blairsville, Cartersville, Gainesville, Lawrenceville and Marietta.
