KENNESAW — A Kennesaw resident has received a scholarship for her studies at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta.
Sophie C. Renaud is the recipient of a Student Professional Association of Georgia Educators Graduate Scholarship, awarded each year through the Professional Association of Georgia Educators Foundation.
The $1,000 scholarship goes to an outstanding SPAGE member in a teacher education program who will soon be entering Georgia’s classrooms. Recipients agree to teach in Georgia for three years. Renaud is pursuing an MAT in Elementary Education at Oglethorpe.
Tom Wommack, president of the PAGE Foundation, noted that each year PAGE awards more than $15,000 in scholarships to aspiring and veteran Georgia educators. “Our 84,000 PAGE members are very aware of the need to ‘grow our own’ next generation of qualified teachers. It is very satisfying to PAGE that our scholarship program, administered through the PAGE Foundation, continues to assist students and veteran educators in the pursuit and advancement of their professional careers,” Wommack said.
